An illness has been discovered in Uganda that has turned children into zombie like beings. This is no joke!

From the Daily Tech. It's also featured on other sites.

World Health Organization is on high alert about new Ugandan outbreak, cause is not fully known

Updated: Added commentary from Jason Oh, a Johns Hopkins Univ. public health studies student who is currently in Uganda studying the disease post-conflict transformation. Mr. Oh described some of the symptoms in more detail, and offered different perspective from the CNN reporters' experience.

CNN has also reworded their report to tone down the suggestion of violent behavior.

It's called the "nodding disease" and it's a baffling illness that has struck thousands of children in northern Ugand…

I don't know if it's because I watched Monty Python last night for the first time in years, or because the several "Tips/General Guidelines" pages irk me so, but I had an idea for an article, and before I start it, I wanted to know if our community likes it, might help, or thinks it's kind of in violation of what Zombiepedia is all about (which it might be, a little).

It would be called Things which might get you killed (I would normally insist on using "one" in place of "you", but it really doesn't have that same ring to it. You'll see what I mean when I'm done describing this). For the first dozen or two bullet points, they will seem like obvious things you don't want to do - neglect gun safety, not check all the rooms of a house you just …

Gun are a much more versitle weapon the blades are. You can engage zombies at long range with the bullets fired from the gun, but you can also use the gun itself to beat the zombie. Also, the one of the biggest dangers of fighting zombies-infection-can is becoming infected, and using guns to shoot the zombies at long range takes this away from them. Also, reloading guns is quicker and easier then sharpening a blade.

They are loud. Really loud. The sound of the gunshot can (and eventually will) attract zombies. Also, hitting the head of a zombie at long ranges is difficult to do. Ammo of all sizes is heavy too, which gives you more weight to carry. All guns jam after extended use, and must be fixed and repaired when such things happen, and re…

Sigh. Set footage was leaked from the shoot in Glasgow (which will represent Philadelphia). Even those the original zombies of World War Z were slow moving, long lasting, and a long incubation time (the last of which is really why they are the most scary, because they can hinde amongst people, plead, beg, and barter.... and get through defenses)... they have instead gone for the 28 Days Later fast infected zombie, that transforms in seconds and runs to chase humans not even a minute after the bite. I don't take this as a good sign that the film will stay true to the source material. Hopefully, these zombies will at least be durable, like the Dawn of the Dead remake. I guess this is another budget related shortcut. Somewhere, Romero is shak…

How do we like the new site logo? Also, I may have deleted the recently created Proper Physique page, but it's only because I'm working on a big, indepth addition to Fitness.

Also, good news on WWZ movie... if you read one of my earlier posts, you'll see that I (and most of the people dying for the movie to be as good as the books or better) were sent in a tizzy because Paramount is having the movie happen before and during the pandemic... essentially changing the premise of the film from finding out what went wrong, to potentially stopping it in its tracks. Well, they've also released info that they are going to make it a trilogy if it does well. Maybe the first movie will end with the Battle of Yonkers. Still don't know how I feel about t…

Just saw The Deadliest Warrior episode that covered Zombies versus Vampires on MTV2. Not bad stuff. They were woefully off about some of the characteristics of both fictional species, but overall, I feel they got the call right - not unlike a referee using make up calls after his own mis-calls, to ensure the right result was found. Still, the whole thing hinged on the fact that these were vampires from 30 Days of Night. If you're a fan of Buffy, Angel, Vampire:The Masquerade, Vampire:The Requiem, Moonlight, Blade, Blade: Trinity, or any of Anne Rice's works, you're pretty much out of luck. Your average vampire cannot take on 60 zombies all by himself.

Also, those vampires cannot all reach levels of strength six times that of the strongest h…

Hiya everyone. I just created a bot using AutoWikiBrowser. It took me a while but I finally learned to use the controls and commands. What I would like to ask is if we could enable this bot for the Wiki? I need the community's say-so to flag it so that we can use it without it irritating us on recent changes.

Why should we get a bot, you ask? Well, a bot is very useful when it comes to Wiki maintaining. Firstly, it can do a lot of stuff in less then 1/34th of how long it would take a regular user, sometimes even quicker. Bots can also delete, replace and add categories to a lot of pre-chosen pages with little effort, and can give reports about which pages has what. It's also good for adding templates to a pre-chosen amount and variety of pa…

Imagine, if you will, a world in which all mankind is gone. Our creations rusting, rotting, or crumbling away. Nature reclaiming her territory bit by bit. Where did mankind go? Either killed and reanimated by Solanum or devoured by its victims. Zombies rule the world until they eventually and inevitablly rot away. Is this Satan's army victorious? Some higher power's retribution for our wrongs? Nature's way of scouring us from the world? The answers do not matter; what matters is preventing this scenario from occuring. In 1984, a young girl named Ellen Aimes survived a fire in her school by jumping out a window, however she suffered sever lacerations and blood loss. To stablize her, hospital staff transfused blood from a donar into her. The…

The title says it all: I am going to buy either a Mosin-Nagant or a twelve gauge Pardner by New England Firearms. I need help choosing.

Both guns cost close the same amount of money, both to buy and to shoot, but that is where the similarity ends.

The Mosin-Nagant is a solid bolt action rifle designed by the Russians for long, hard use. It only holds five shells, which makes shot placement important.

I like that the rifle comes with a sling, bayonet and everything needed for takedown, but it is very heavy and very long.

The Pardner is a singleshot platform available in several gauges and is even bored for rifle rounds, but I am looking at a twelve guage with a short barrel.

Twelve gauge shotguns are probably the most varied round in existance: bird…

Hey all. Nursing a wrist injury because of all the IT work I've had. Yes, yes, that joke you just thought of has been made already, don't worry. Still, while I am trying to keep spam, vandalism, and thoroughly irrelevant articles off the board, I can't afford to do a whole lot else right now. Have to rest the mouse hand. Regardless, you do not need a title to add your ideas or articles. You can help Zombiepedia grow. Sign up, get started, and I'll let you know if you veer off in a direction not covered by this wiki.

Well, it's probably the egg nog talking, but I've decided to start blogging here. A little. I've resisted the urge for a while now, but because I've started to become a bit desperate for a less formal method of conveying to editors what I feel the wiki needs, and because I must admit, I do love some of Zombiepedia's content, and its potential for the future.... so I might as well loosen the reigns a little bit. First off, know that I am a private person, and don't feel like revealing very much about myself here. I will reveal two things. I do have a great job in the IT field. I'm an internet veteran and I have seen all sorts of shit online over the years. This is why, in observing my rulings, and my choice of words, one may notice I have ve…

Curious as to people's ideas as to what constitutes a good defense for both your initial redoubt and your final stronghold. Personally, I believe in the doctrine of "Defense in Depth" with ever increasing defensive attributes the further into your territory you go. One can define the areas of protection easily via color code, e.g. your outer layer and largest layer could be protected by something as simple as a triple concertina barrier and be known as a yellow zone.

My final redoubt would be a large tract of open land, farmland preferably, which will be surrounded by the aforementioned triple concertina. A small number of zombies will be halted long enough to be found by Romeo (roaming patrol callsign) teams and dispatched before they are …

    Laughing at zombies

    September 13, 2010 by Iceyyouthere

Ok, it is hard to admit that zombies can be a source of humour, seeing how they can look horrific at times and they will come at you no matter what, but there are ways to laugh at them.

Question is: Why would you want to laugh at the zombies? Well, its a hell of a lot better than pissing your pants. Be scared of them, yes, but laughing at them can help you boost your confidence while fighting them.

So, how can you have a laugh at the mindless, dangerous undead?

I've a small list of things you can do:

    • Throw marbles on the ground. Zombies have a poor balance, so this classical slapstick would be entertaining to watch from a distance.
    • Paintguns. Not only would you be practising your aiming, but you would be creating a master piece as well. A horri…

Zombiepedia can be a great wikipedia site just like halopedia. We just need some more articles and information as far as the vast zombie universe goes. Zombiepedia is not a forum, we do not create fanfiction we only compile undead information together and do not create our own. Save that for userpages or fanfiction pages on other sites.
