A machine pistol is typically a handgun-style, magazine-fed, self-loading firearm, capable of fully automatic or burst fire, and chambered for pistol cartridges. These probably will waste quite a lot of precious ammunition, so it would be best to stick to a semi-automatic pistol if one wants to have a handgun.
