A cemetery, or graveyard is a spatially defined area where the remains of dead people are buried. They are very commonly filled with headstones, otherwise known as gravestones or tombstones, that could be used as barricades or some other line of defense if there is no alternative.
A cemetery is actually not as bad of a base as people make it out to be, and here's why. The deceased are buried six feet underground in a coffin, surrounded by extremely heavy concrete that not even a healthy living person could lift. Not only that, the dead would probably be too decayed to even have a chance to rise again because most zombie plagues infect only the living, as their blood still flows, carrying the virus to the brain.
Advantages
- A cemetery is spacious, allowing for construction on houses and other essential buildings if the headstones are removed
- Unless a funeral service was held on the day of the outbreak, not many undead will be lurking around in a cemetery, because of the lack of humans
- Most cemeteries usually have fences surrounding them
Disadvantages
- Supplies will be scarce in a cemetery.
- If the cemetery is built next to a church or other religious building, the zombie population in that area would be greater.
- The presence of the dead buried underground may cause a problem in farming and underground wiring and piping.
