The Ghost Breakers (1940) is a comedy/horror film directed by George Marshall and starring Bob Hope. The movie is based on the play The Ghost Breaker by Paul Dickey and Charles W. Goddard.

Plot:[]

Mary Carter (Paulette Goddard) inherits her family's ancestral home and decides to move into the supposedly haunted mansion. Radio broadcaster Larry Lawrence (Hope), meanwhile, flees from New York because he believes he has just killed a mob and, with his butler Alex (Willie Best), decides to take safe refuge in the castle for the night. Soon the group of three start experiencing paranormal encounters with supernatural creatures including creepy ghosts and one particularly frightening zombie.
