New York City, abbreviated as New York, NY or NYC, is the largest city in the United States of America and the state of New York. Aside from that, the city is the most populated one in America, and the most influential in terms of culture, tourism, fashion, and entertainment other politics. Notable points of interests include the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bride, One World Trade Center, Empire State Building, Central Park, Times Square, and the United Nations Building.
Because of it is the most populated and largest city in America, and tourism being a source of income, it is obvious that New York City would be hit hard during the zombie apocalypse. A notable example to this is how NYC was portrayed in World War Z.

Before the war when zombie outbreaks were covered up, life went normally for New Yorkers and tourists visiting the city. It can be implied some infected refugees hid in the poorly developed areas of the city.
During the Great Panic, people tried to fight the zombies pilling up the streets with melee weapons. It can be assumed the NYPD and New York National Guard were doing their best to eradicated the zombie threat. By August 2013, the city was overrun with majority of its residents turned into zombies.
