First of all, the best place to survive a zombie apocalypse is in a self supporting place, such as a massive plain with a watering canyon in it and light forestry. Depending on where you are, you will definitely want a sniper to cover you, depending on what kind of threats you expect to face. A good sniper is a patient, medium sized, quiet man who can lay still for hours and maintain a calm state of mind. Snipers are trained soldiers or guards specializing in covert distances of 1000 yards (914.4 meters) or more. In terms of equipment, a sniper should have an adequate ghillie suit. Say your clan operated in a temperately forested area with a canyon lake, and ridge surrounding it, a sniper should be positioned atop the ridge in a special stakeout. A good stakeout is small, blended in, and easy to access. A sniper's ghillie suit should break up his shape in a 3D manner. He should be equipped with a good pair of binoculars with a night vision function--which can also be a pastime for the sniper as he can mischeiviously watch other people secretly, though the binoculars have more use as surveillance. A sniper should be fully equipped with a communicator and plenty of food and water for however long he plans to stay in his stakeout. In terms of weapons, he/she needs a high powered rifle, .308 caliber at the very least, after the suppressor has been attached. A good sniper suppressor should conceal muzzle flashes, gunshot noise, and the tracer flare. Also consider adding ghillie strips to the gun itself, as this will complete the concealing process.
